The Spyderco Ambitious is a compact folding knife with a 59mm long blade. The blade is made of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel, hardened to a hardness between 58-60 HRC. The flat grind provides cutting comfort, which is hard to come by in small EDC knives.

The handle is made of fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) with Bi-Directional texture, which improves grip even in a wet hand. Inside are steel plates, partially milled to reduce weight, resulting in the knife’s low weight of 79 grams. Combined with an overall length of 149 mm (when unfolded), the Ambitious offers comfortable handling without unnecessary weight.

The knife is equipped with a liner-lock and Spyderco’s characteristic hole in the head, allowing one-handed opening. On the back of the blade is a notched finger rest, also known as jimping, which increases control over the tool.

The Ambitious model has a steel clip that can be mounted in four positions – tip-up or tip-down, for right- and left-handed users. This allows the knife to be clipped into a trouser pocket according to individual preference. The smooth cutting edge makes it easier to sharpen and is better suited for applications requiring precision.
